With Lego producing a bespoke Lego set for the Sonic Franchise, Sega came to us to create a game to showcase its main features.
We pitched a series of game concepts to Sega, eventually landing on a concept that felt close to the mechanics of 8 Ball Pool. The game was created to sit within the Lego mini-game portal, available to play for free.
Using blender, I re-purposed the Unity models of the Lego sets, lighting them and rendering them in an isometric view for the game assets.

Tutorial

We created a tutorial section at the start of the game to clearly demonstrate the controls and aim of the game.

All the scenes were composed and lit in blender.

UI
We created a type treatment and visual style for the UI, leaning into the simplistic arcade style found on games from the 80’s.
As the game needed to be translated into many other languages, we used Noto Sans for its versatility.

Sprite sheets
I created sprite sheets for all of the characters that feature in the game, rendering out all 8 angles in the isometric view.
